Waste & Environmental Management
CURRENT PROJECTS
Willowie Landfill
Lucas recently completed the Willowie Landfill Cell 1A, including construction of a 1.0m thick clay liner, leachate pond, drainage layer, leachate sump and green waste collection area. Lucas has extensive experience in landfill construction including remote location works.
Pedler Creek Landfill
Comprising of 900,000 tonnes of drill, blast and excavation, Lucas recently completed the construction of the Southern Region Waste Disposal Depot’s Cell. Works included the bulk excavation, 0.3m thick clay liner, cushioning geotextile, HDPE liner, leachate pond and drainage layer. The works have been completed under very tight time restraints and program restraints of working within an operating landfill site.
Desilting Brown Hill Creek
Winner of the 2005 National Case Earth Awards, Lucas, in conjunction with Flinders Bio-Remediation and Jeffries, successfully treated 3000m3 of contaminated silt and through innovative composting techniques converted it into a marketable mixture meeting all relevant Australian Standards. The success of this project led to an SA Water contract to continue with the removal of material from the Brownhill and Keswick Creeks.
Hartley Landfill
Lucas has recently finished the next stage of the Hartley Landfill. Works include excavation, clay liner construction, leachate pipe work and sump and riser and drainage layer. Works were completed under a very strict working program and have met stringent EPA approvals for these construction works
Flinders Bio-Remediation
Lucas currently operates a joint venture with Flinders Bio-Remediation to remediate contaminated material from construction sites throughout Adelaide. As operators of one of the only licensed facilities able to accept this material Lucas with Flinders Bioremediation divert contaminated spoil material from landfill. Works are either performed on site or on specially designed bio pads at the Southern Waste Depot.
Southern Waste Depot
Lucas currently operates the Southern Waste Depot located on Main South Road, Maslins. Works include new cell construction, recycling activities, general landfill activities and infrastructure support for operating the first lined landfill cell in South Australia.
